A Confidant Slave
Since there are so few people in vigids life that are privy to the fact that she is a slave this is an interesting topic to discuss. The girl can literally count on one hand the number of people outside of pally that know of this. This is not to say she is ashamed of her true nature, no by all means she is quite proud of realizing that for her own mental health and well being she NEEDS to serve.
Society as a whole tends to view a BDSM relationship as demeaning. Goddess forbid that one begin to discuss the Gorean lifestyle, one that considers slaves possessions and no better than animals. The Gorean Lifestyle, where men and woman each have their place. Where the dominance of the male of the species is not (or seldom) questioned. Where men are expected to do manly things and woman are expected to not do manly things.
Gee does this sound like the early 20th century to anyone else? Men, they were ones doing the hard labor outside of the home so that the Family was fed, clothed, protected and overall in a fine state. Women were to take care of the inner workings of the family. Make the food, or have someone make it. Clean the house, look after the children. … the bond digresses and returns back to the topic at hand.
There is a base misconception in society as a whole which views the one that is willing to enter into service or to be a slave as being weak, or insecure. Actually, it takes a lot of strength to take the collar of a Master or Mistress. It shows a willingness to accept that ones Owner be they a city or a person knows what is best for a girl and a girl puts her complete trust that she will have her needs met, that she will be protected, loved and cherished.
Where does her confidence come from? This is an excellent question for one who will have been in PalGor for exactly one year (7 days after the assignment is due). If this question had been asked of the newly collared girl who was still struggling on so many levels she would have said it comes from outside validation. Perhaps even the collar that the girl wears or the Home in which she serves.
Now, she feels it comes from many things. Confidence comes from a need deep within herself to be pleasing, knowing that she feels whole as she serves. In learning new and fun things and being able to use those tools in serving and in other things. In being challenged in her understanding of different things pertaining to Gor and its peoples. A need to serve, for that comes now nearly as naturally as breathing.
Confidence too, comes from being in a healthy relationship with the one who Owns the girl. This might be considered an outside source of validation however it is true. If the partnership is out of balance or if the needs of One are not being met the confidence that a girl has diminishes greatly.
The ultimate form of confidence comes to the girl who is honest with her heart, with herself and expresses the joy of her serve. Without joy there is not happiness and from that happiness and joy come the pride and confidence to serve.
*note these are the girls thoughts and are not reflective upon anything in particular it is an opinion which as a bond does not often get to be expressed. In loving service, vigdis
