"And there were four Wagon Peoples, the Paravaci, the Kataii, the Kassars and the dreaded Tuchuks."
Nomads of Gor, pg 9
Each of the four peoples would often fight among themselves but would come together in peace approximately every ten years for certain rites or rituals.
The Paravaci are known among the Peoples as the 'Rich People'. They are the wealthiest of the four tribes. They sometimes wear jeweled belts on their necks to incite envy in others and accrue enemies. The boskhead-shaped banner made of jewels and strung on gold wire is their standard while their brand is an inverted isosceles triangle surmounted by a semicircle, symbolically represents the head of a bosk.
The Kassar are also known as the 'Blood People', a scarlet bola hanging from a lance is the standard they carry. The brand they use much resembles the standard as it bears three circles connected at the center by lines.
Kataii, a tribe of the people with dark (black) skin. All of the Wagon peoples are highly suspicious of strangers but the Kataii are even more reclusive they often do not camp with the other tribes. The standard the Kataii carry a standard depicting a yellow bow across a black spear. Their brand is a bow facing to the left.
"He would be both skillful and vain; he was Tuchuk." Nomads of Gor, p.25 The last tribe the Tuchuk and they are known as the “wily ones” they seldom take things at face value. Highly suspicious they tend to look for hidden meanings in things yet intensely loyal they carry a banner with four bosk horns as their standard. Their brand, also four bosk horns resembles the letter “H”
“The man facing me had seven such scars ceremonially worked into the tissue of his countenance, the highest being red, the next yellow, the next blue, the fourth black, then two yellow, then black again. I recalled what I had heard whispered of once before, in a tavern in Ar, the terrible Scar Codes of the Wagon Peoples, for each of the hideous marks on the face of these men had a meaning, a significance that could be ready by the Paravaci, the Kassars, the Kataii, the Tuchucks as clearly as you or I might read a sign in a window or a sentence in a book. At that time I could read only the top scar, the red, bright, fierce cord like scar that was the Courage Scar. It is always the highest scar on the face. Indeed without that scar, no other scar can be granted. The Wagon Peoples value courage above all else. Each of these men facing me wore that scar." Nomads of Gor, pgs 15-16
So as We see in the quote the first scar is the Courage Scar which is red in color and with out which, no other scars may be given or attained.
Yellow for Loyalty. This is given to warriors who have risked their life for a Home Stone or a cause.
Warriors who have a blue scar have shown themselves to be Virtuous. They are true of heart in their actions and words. (virtue).
Warriors who carry a black scar on their countenance have demonstrated their honor and that of their Home in times of conflict. It is a scar of valor.
